Bread of Life - Bread Making Quiet Day

  • Whalley Abbey The Sands Whalley, BB7 9SS United Kingdom (map)

Join us for a delightful day of bread making and reflection at Whalley Abbey. This in-person event on Saturday Jan 13, 2024 will start at 10:00 AM and promises to be a calming and fulfilling experience.

Immerse yourself in the art of bread making as we knead, shape, and bake delicious loaves together. Helen Brocklehurst is a former member of the Scargill Community where she led the kitchen team or which her favourite job was baking bread for communion services. Helen will guide you in making bread together and, while the dough is rising, take time to reflect on the significance and symbolism of bread in the bible. At the end of the day, you will take home the bread you've made to enjoy share with friends and family or enjoy all to yourself. No previous baking experience needed as full instructions will be given along the way.

Cost includes the ingredients to create your loaf as well as a delicious two-course lunch and refreshments throughout the day

Guests will need to bring some of their own equipment: mixing bowl, spoon, apron, loaf tin if you have one and a clean tea towel to wrap their loaf.

Discover the satisfaction of working with your hands, connecting with others, and finding solace in the simple act of bread making.
