Longing for Light - Advent Retreat with Archdeacon David Picken

  • Whalley Abbey The Sands Clitheroe, England, BB7 9SS United Kingdom (map)

In a fast-paced world demanding instant responses and quick fixes, we invite you step away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and to experience the profound beauty of 'holy waiting' during this special Advent retreat.

Advent is the season of anticipation and hope, a time when we remember the significance of God's ultimate plan of salvation. Led by the Venerable David Picken, Archdeacon of Lancaster, this three night, four day residential retreat will be a time of teachings, meaningful discussions, contemplation and eucharistic worship - delving deep into the essence of waiting and how it aligns with God's timeless wisdom.

Whalley Abbey is a retreat centre, a place of welcome, hospitality and prayer. Hosted in an inviting Elizabethan manor built out of the old Abbot's lodgings with ensuite rooms, comfy beds, and delicious food. The chapel offers peaceful reflection and daily services, while the Library beckons with it's collection of theological and secular books. Experience warm hospitality and join us in our advent retreat 'Longing for Light'.
