Explore this fairly new pilgrim route to our diocesan mother church on foot with a guide and a group of pilgrims from Whalley Abbey to Blackburn Cathedral. The journey begins with a fairly strenuous ascent to the top of Whalley Nab and follows paths through woodland and fields to Great Harwood, and the rest of the way is on tarmac or gravel, mostly along the canal.
The day includes:
- 8:00 morning prayer and pilgrim blessing
- 8:30 hearty breakfast
- packed lunch in Great Harwood
- welcome at Cathedral, possibility to purchase refreshments, viewing the Gaia exhibition and evening prayer at 17:00
- dinner after return to Whalley by train
In addition, you may like to book a night’s stay at the Abbey before and/or after the walking day.
The cost for this event will be 46£ for the day or £200 with two nights’ accommodation 6-8 October. You will also need to buy a train ticket from Blackburn to Whalley. The residential package includes a dinner and talk on the theme of pilgrimage on Monday 6th October as well as breakfast on the final morning.
