Year of Contemplation 2026: Lectio Divina and Journalling
Our Year of Contemplation 2026 focuses on seeking God and learning more about prayer through ancient and more modern paths, and through silence, spiritual exercises and the senses.
Lectio Divina, or divine reading, and journalling are ways that help us digest the scriptures prayerfully. This quiet day will help us learn to use them in our own spiritual practice.
Peter Lumsden is a retired academic, local preacher in the Methodist church, and has a long-standing interest in meditation and the contemplative as a pathway for spiritual formation. He leads half of the day on lectio divina and Hilary Murphy teaches about journalling. She is a spiritual director and the spiritual lead at Whalley Abbey.
Participants are encouraged to bring a journal and any outdoor wear for their self-led quiet space. You may want to bring a Bible or a Bible app.
£37 including lunch. Book by clicking the button below which will take you to our ticketing site Ticket Tailor. Please note when booking that this is the January event, not September.
