Retreat - Praying Through Music

Year of Contemplation 2026: Praying Through Music

Our Year of Contemplation 2026 focuses on seeking God and learning more about prayer through ancient and more modern paths, and through silence, spiritual exercises and the senses.

We will explore ways to God and prayer through the world of sound and stand in awe of God who moves us through music. Composers of religious music and architects of church buildings have made use of this in every era. The retreat sessions lead us to find beauty, respond to God and pray in creative ways.

Revd Kaarina Leong is the Curate at Christ Church, Lancaster, and a church musician with a deep love of choral music. John Robinson is the Director of Music at Blackburn Cathedral and an organist. Revd Dr Jenny Gaffin is the Canon Precentor at Blacburn Cathedral and has a passion for music and creativity in worship. Joanne Caine is a Regional Coordinator for WCCM, World Community for Christian Meditation, with a long career in education.
