Year of Contemplation 2026: Pathways to Prayer
The Pathways to Prayer day starts our Year of Contemplation 2026 with a focus on seeking God and learning more about prayer through ancient and more modern paths, and through silence, spiritual exercises and the senses.
This day of workshops includes a carousel of Centring Prayer, Visio Divina, Breath of Contemplation, and Imaginative Contemplation.
The day will be led by Rev. Hilary Murphy, a member of the resident community and spiritual director; Lloyd Allen, a counsellor, mental health specialist and member of The Vine Community, Whalley Abbey’s dispersed community; Bridget Clarke, a former Carmelite, an oblate member of the OSB and a non-resident member of the Whalley Abbey praying community; and Sue Lunn, a lay reader within the Diocese of Blackburn.
There will be two Pathways to Prayer workshop days in January and September, two retreats in June and December and several quiet days in between, expanding what has been introduced in the workshops.
Participants are encouraged to bring a journal and any outdoor wear for their self-led quiet space. You may want to bring a Bible or a Bible app.
£37 including lunch. Book by clicking the button below which will take you to our ticketing site Ticket Tailor. Please note when booking that this is the January event, not September.
